Railroad Avenue, Ronceverte,
WV - 1908
From a village of three houses, which owed its birth to
the construction of the railroad, Ronceverte evolved into a good business
town. The site of the new town,
incorporated in 1882, was partly determined by the needs of the old county seat
of Lewisburg, which was located several miles from the railway route. In 1900, coincident with the opening of the
Greenbrier division of the C. & O. its second bank began business. The electric railway connecting Lewisburg
and Ronceverte was completed and in 1909.
